Thessaloniki’s Flyover Is Rewiring the City. Here’s What It Means.

Also known as the upgraded Eastern Inner Ring Road, this major 13 km infrastructure initiative will transform mobility on the city’s Eastern periphery. Key features include:

  • A 4 km elevated expressway – the longest in Greece
  • 9 interchanges, 8 bridges and 3 tunnels
  • Capacity of 10 000 vehicles per hour per direction (double today’s)
  • The project will significantly improve traffic flow, safety and sustainability by reducing congestion, emissions and accident rates.

Currently on track for completion around 2027.

Why the Flyover project is important for Dragoumi Heights:

  • Pylaia connects directly to this corridor via exits K10 and K11 on the A24 / Inner Ring Road. Once completed, the Flyover will enable residents to bypass local congestion and reach key destinations – including the airport, Halkidiki, major highways (Egnatia, PATHE) and the city center – more quickly and seamlessly.
  • Even more importantly and based on the available information, Ionos Dragoumi Street will benefit from direct access to the Flyover and the Ring Road via Veroias Street. This connection will allow residents to have immediate access to the Flyover/the Ring Road in both directions – either towards Toumba and the city center or towards Thessaloniki International Airport and Halkidiki.
